I recently posted about a way to navigate sites and blogs by topic using a d3.js force diagram. Following that I was thinking some more about the trend away from organizing data into predefined folders and hierarchies (Google Mail for example), and how that applied to browsing through structured data (any web site and the hierarchy of site links).
Here’s a way of navigating this blog using topics/concepts (however you want to describe it .. I’m probably using the term concept browser wrongly here, but it’ll do for now). It’s embedded below. You can hover over topics/links, focus on nodes or pages by clicking them or visit the pages by double clicking on them.
Here’s a screenshot for the browser challenged
You can read about how this is built on the Excel Liberation site.
